The author’s striking enthusiasm is the star in this memorable guide to father-daughter relationships. Complete with occasional Bible references, his ideas apply to daughters of all ages and run the gamut from simple things we forget to say like “you make me proud” to the suggestion that dads keep a dialogue going about the cultural pressures women face today. Other chapters discuss what not to do and say, how to deal with boyfriends and social gatherings, what to do about risqué clothes and sexual issues—all of which Payleitner reads with charming optimism and a professional-sounding baritone voice. Both energetic and persuasive, he delivers a fitting performance of parenting suggestions that dads too often overlook and that young women need more of. T.W. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine
